The inaugural GPAI Golf Classic was first delivered at Nambour Golf Club in 2014 and was an immediate and unexpected success.
In 2020 we are celebrating our 7th Annual GPAI Golf Classic and the event continues to evolve and grow in popularity with every passing year. The GPAI team would like to thank the golf club, the local businesses, organisations and players that continue to support this great local event on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Today we can say the GPAI Golf Classic is the country’s most inclusive golf event where mainstream golfers team up with an intellectually disabled partner and vie for the prestigious GPAI Cannon Family Shield in a 9-hole shotgun start Foursomes (Alternate Shot) format.
The GPAI charity’s catch cry of Driving Inclusion and Breaking Isolation is never more evident than with the delivery each December of perhaps the country’s most inclusive golf tournament.
The event has gained much recognition and support from the community over the years and organisations such as Nambour Rotary 76 Club and the Sunshine Coast Council have ensured the continued success of this inclusive community offering.
Local business sponsorship and participation is also a key factor in the growth and continuity of the GPAI Golf Classic and certainly, this support is a large reason for the event’s continued success.
